Whilst I don't really dislike the idea that new people can protect themselves from inevitable dunce that decides that poking random people with the pointy end of his sword is a valiant idea, I do agree that the combat system itself has some issues when it comes to even numbers and uneven numbers both, one of the easiest to point out issues being the fact that you're limited to 5 moves at a time, meaning if your whole deck spans anywhere above 7 moves, you're going to start having issues considering that canceling deck moves has an insanely long afterdelay.

I just wish people who were weaker/outnumbered would just get an adrenaline boost (ingame) when combat initiated on them or something, although with how combat now resolves around horseback murder rather than a water and bucket race, I don't know if that would help much.

Why wouldn't this still happen? Most XP is gained in villages and other places where people live, so if you want to maximize XP gain the same expansion strategy still applies. I suppose you could say the with the current system claiming an area without hearth fires isn't entirely useless, but on the other hand you could also argue that the expected gain would be greater in the other scenario as it's more likely people will settle in an empty area than that a significant amount of people would gain XP in that same empty area.

you'd just want to go directly for the global resources because people walking by those are where the bulk of the exp is going to come from

Any chance of changing village an realm chat names to "village" and "realm"? Right now both use village's name :?

They should each be using the name of the polity in question.
