I vaguely remember the devs stating that their goal is that all humans in game should be backed by real human players, so that there is no confusion about this in case you approach a character.

That's a silly excuse. Just give them something to set them apart.

There should be a way to bring your village to life when there's a lack of players, especially now with kingdoms. It doesn't make sense that people are running "villages" with 1 player.

I also think some type of NPC system would be a great way to discourage botting.

An NPC guard could be an animal.

And this. Let us have boars as guard dogs.

I have no clue where you guys see an excuse there, want ment as one.
Just a hint to not expect NPC (non player character) like in other games...

I just meant that's a silly reason not to have NPCs, if they said that

with XP becoming more useful, quests are easier if you live in vast lands... i live in a medium sized land with rivers on all sides, only managed to finish one quest without having to cross water...

maybe in the future horses can learn to swim and cross small rivers?

Technically you can have animal guards if you keep an alt logged in 24/7. They can attack you though. I had a boar for a while and people were like wtf

I'm not sure but I don't think they can aggro through fences on a claim

What was that comment jorb made about dragons many months ago? Oh, wait, that wasn't as a guard.

Reason: friggin' typos, man....
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

Good steel weapons, good armor, good food, good drink, bad women, good sleep and a nice bath. This also gives players a direct incentive to want to civilize their immediate surroundings, which they haven't got at present. Ideally, the civilized areas should perhaps also depend to some extent on hunters to bring in rare raw materials, game and hide, and warn of incoming dragons. Generally, though -- the hunter should be more dependent on civilization than vice versa.

Also I think that the characters in a realm need mechanics enabling them to deal with rulers that go (or start out) mad. It would be bad should they auto-fuel their tormentor which then directly converts their energy into walls (given the idea above) around them to restrict them...

Maybe offline characters if subscribers stay online and farm and shit? :?: But if they die while offline its not perma-death. They just drop all their shit.

How is that relevant for my suggestion? English is'nt my first language, so I might have missed something in translation.
