Because people will have already used dug-out coal to burn bricks and built smelters of it or whatnot. The problem is not isolated to ore.

The server wasnt online long enough for a full smelter run i think?

Apologies!

Thanks. I won't feel like mvp just for being around when patch hit. Good choice.

so because people were not wanting a 3 day rollback we have just invalided MONTHS of work instead? everything we have mined this world is now completely useless.

every animal skin I have collected is useless because I can now make much higher with a new axe.

IMO we have traded 3 days for MONTHS.

maybe I should not subscribe and wait till next world?

You don't need very long to burn bricks.

We cannot nuke selectively. We have attempted this in the past, and it doesn't work.
A rollback is a lot of work for us, and not fun for anyone involved.
The adjusted formula is probably better as such, but a bit unfair.
The old formula is somewhat crazy, but it's a level playing field.

Given all of that we have decided to simply revert to the first, higher baseline quality, formula. This means the following

  • Baseline metal qualities will be high for the remainder of this world. Who knows, this might even be fun.
  • This world has entered a more distinct experiment phase.
  • We will be taking backups before any future patches.

I would encourage you all to see the divine comedy in this.

I am very excited to see how this turns out!

Apologies!

i support this!

Well, then... if this is how things will go, someone must create the Order of Fairness:

The mission of the Order will be to destroy every uber static object in the world and collect and store away every uber weapon/armor/bars/etc. Once all the legendary items granted by the Godly mistake of November is collected, it shall all be thrown into the depths of the Dark Lake, restoring the balance of the world.

Please, someone do that!

There was time, but not so much that it would be game breaking.

So might I suggest the following bad idea.

Option three and four: Nuke all ore, coal, stones, stone axes

If you managed to make any branches or bars, that's the option three part. With the adjusted formula people can use their pickaxes to mine what will likely be better quality ore and/or coal than what they already have. I might suggest nuking bricks as well but players like to store a lot of those so if someone really did manage to burn some, option three again. Don't think there was enough time to make much of anything though.
