+1, if you're using mac or linux like a nerd you should be able to make your own client, just for these systems.

One more comment:

Please don't ever require players to install Steam.

The haven client is able to run on my ancient 2015 Macbook, which is kept downrev so I can continue to run 32-bit games. The Steam client hasn't been able to run on it for years - they require a more recent version of MacOS. I only use that Macbook when traveling, to do minimal babysitting of my account - performance isn't great, particularly with hotel wireless. But it does work, and there may well be plenty of other players who _only_ have similarly ancient setups. Lots of people with limited money play Haven, whereas Steam is clearly targeted at people with rather more money to spend on games.

Question?

There is usually notable lag the first few days of the new world. Since the game is being released on Steam, we can expect not only the usual player base to return, but a fair flood of new Steam subscribes trying out the game since it is free. Is there a brand new server with extra capacity that can deal with having the higher numbers of players logged in simultaneously?

This world felt pretty aight early on, and i wouldn't expect a HUGE influx of players on day 1 compared to the usual, more likely they'll come in waves.

Some idea:
It would be possible to make a video about how players collect resources and build an entire settlement, and then another group of players comes and starts a siege using all available siege weapons.
Or such a scene: a guarded caravan is moving along the road, and suddenly a raid begins on it.
After that, you can make a cut for the promo video

I don't think new players will be okay with botting and all the custom client stuff. :? It's an unfair advantage.
It doesn't matter that it's allowed. H&H is on Steam and they (normal people) don't like games full of cheaters.

No no, trust me, jorb understands, he said so in the stream. Bots are the same thing as the sawmill. It's equivalent so it's not a problem. Trust the process.

Steam users won't like Jorb's view on cheating.
