Disposable alts won't work quite as well cause you still need to stuff them full of some food or another to do hard labour. The only reason to spam slave alts and feed them anyway is to have more throughput.

To expand on the energy thing:

How about in the future (you guys are probably too busy for this for now), instead of the bread bandaid fix, there are certain types of drinks or juices that, along with regenerating stamina, regenerate energy without degrading your hunger in the process. Would be a nice way to stay productive on your main character while not being OCD that you will be ruining its hunger by doing so.

Added Wilderness Beacon. Build it. Give it a name and it starts burning. It lasts for an hour before it is destroyed. If someone spawns by it it is destroyed. Updated OP.

If alt chaos ensues I'm nuking random bases. j/k
