Post count is meaningless especially if you have a reputation of posting one word spam which can turn that post count number into a negative thing. It's not like a KDR score indicating your skills since it doesn't take much talent to hit the Submit button.

It can be natural for a man to desire higher number than the other men. I think a high post count can indicate involvement of the community. It is not necessary to be a contributor good involvement. This is based on the reputation as you say. But a good reputation and a good post count is for respecting I think.
