Some of what I read halfway through this mega-thread suggested multiple servers for world 16, as a way to cope with overpopulation and resulting inability to log in. (I'd have said "to cope with why-bother-playing levels of lag," but that's not what I read.)

Would this be multiple servers connecting to the same world? Multiple servers each with its own world and its own characters, but starting with the same initial map as each other? Multiple worlds, each with its own characters, with the same code and the same starting possibilities, but with different random starting points? something else?

Or was this whole speculation simply nonsense from people who aren't the developers?

Reading the announcement on Steam a few days ago, I was told that the game would not work with older (intel) Macintosh computers.

Current clients *do* work with older Macintoshes. I was using on less than a month ago, and while it may have been a bit slower than my more recent (ARM) Mac, the problem might well have been hotel wifi, not the computer itself.

Since the clients are implemented in Java, the only difference between my installations on my two Macs is the build of java I installed.

I'm guessing that if someone signs in via Steam, it will try to install the game for them, including both java and the official client, and a choice has been made to package only the ARM build of java, not the intel build, let alone a universal Mac executable including both. (Not sure if Mac still supports that. It does, for sure, support running the intel build on an ARM mac, but that will be slower than a native build.)

What I want to know is whether a decision has been made to make intel macs unusable for haven even by people who never use Steam, or at least never use Steam with haven, e.g. by re-packaging the client to include the java run time, even when it's downloaded from the Haven site.

Alternatively, is this just a false alarm, and the Steam information is merely incorrect?

@Jorb, I PM'd you about this some days ago, in a less thought out form - I hadn't figured out why or how what the steam blurb told me could possibly be true or reasonable, so was mostly suggesting it was in error. No response so far, so I'm posting here with a later version of my concern.

Thank you for the hint.

As a regular player, not a member of a large team or a combat monster, I'm aware of peers who've abandoned mines because of having dug out a troll.

Now I have an idea for something that might work to get rid of one, if I had that misfortune.

The bad news is, the combat is so complicated, convoluted, counterintuitive, clunky, borderline abusive to the player, that it may quickly diminish the new user count via steam.

I did my bit trying to help with that, by creating a page in our wiki that attempts to explain haven combat for dummies, to the extent that I understand it, which is not very much.

Now I just need to finish that page.

Usually people make an arena with a cover and kite around endlessly with a bow, pretty simple right? Anyway, i think everyone who started to play this game must read at least this combat guide.

IMO if project will succeed on steam in-game built wiki would be a great addition.

Could go OSRS way and special key combination would open item wiki page, ie. alt+space+mouse click on Bones opens up RoB wiki page for Bones

First time posting in the forum =)

I'm very happy to know that a new world will be released and also the idea of having the resets be more frequent, I feel it's going to be a very healthy thing for the game

As someone who has played this 10 years ago and then last year or two years ago I played it a bit too, I think this will be a great thing for the game

With the way the game is set up now with the current world having been going for a long time new players can't really experience the game without being on months or years of disadvantage, when I wanted to come back to the game I looked at the forum to see how long the current world had been going for and seeing that it was going for a looong time made me not want to put in the effort into playing, because I'd play for a month or two and then get one shot by a player that had a very strong character that I couldn't possibly compete with.

Congrats to the developers for making an amazing game.
