I think that this system is interesting, but you need to add a lot more patches. and "meele+ carpentry" patch- is very bad idea! Warriors do not use carpentry, and carpenters do not use "meele".
I think a good combinations is: meele + unarmed or meele+ marksman or meele + str (or + agility). you add a patch for agility and I think you need to add a similar patch for another articles, especially for intelligence. silk bow does not fit, it gives 3 stats. need patch only for INT and not made of silk

I agree I think there's a lot of room for many varied gilding items obtained from many different sources for many different professions and different levels. I also think the current selection is slightly thin with some odd stat/skill combinations.

I like that some thought was put into low level gilding like taproot threading which a low level character can create and add to their nettles, but I think it needs a lot of expansion in this regard.

Yeah it's weird, I was expecting to see UA and str or melee and agi. Melee and carpentry or unarmed and smithing is ridiculous.

Likely for forcing to get chances succeed to get the good bonus. If you will get all in one item it will not fail.

You should re-add the stats to the old gear.

That Gilding should then only apply to new gear..

I'm thinking many people are annoyed by the int stat for some reason being the most difficult to get now and also high end gear they either bought/worked for that becomes useless and has a low chance of actually becoming as good as it once was.

A lot of players use gear to craft at certain qualities and to keep up with their quality production.

To be fair getting +35 int as soon as you have an ashen robe and fox hat was kinda ridiculous.
