Trying this system out from the very start of a world, progressing your gear as you progress your character and your industry is how it should be done.

But if you've been building up your industry in this world, then you should be where you can easily do as good or better than what you already had. It's just going to take you a day or two to source materials.

Neither do I. I haven't seen the slotting on ranger boots yet. I don't do silk because i'm a filthy casual hermit right now. What I have seen is as good or better than what my gear was at.

For months sabinati? Really? This world has only been open for 3 months and players have been at the end-game content for at least two of them.

and if you had traded for a ranger set that is now useless for goods that took you a large amount of time to acquire how would you feel right now? this is further killing off the whole small group, hermit play style and forcing you to join a large faction because of the rng nature of slots and the amount of resources needed to get gear you want to wear with the slots you need for stats. If it was implemented at a start of a world it wouldnt have hurt as much because people would have set up with these features in mind, ala needing silk for int, or needing tons of leather for survival etc etc

I love these changes. All the whiners can go to hell.

There are a few things that could use tweaking, such as two-slot items and maybe increasing the variety of gildings. However, the system as is has a lot going for it. It's certainly better than "I craft a straw hat, now I'm good until I spend a few months grinding up my barley quality".

You buy good above your means and get punished for this one. There is no shortcut to the top, I think.

I will note that I do understand the issues with the loss of easy +INT gear. It's been this way since forever, and was a practical way of getting high attentions since the start of curios waaaay back in 2011. Getting that much INT is just that much more work, and slows down earning LP for other things that much more.

In a way, this game could use to be slowed down some. The race to the top should take months, not weeks. The regional resources just sped it up way too much this world. We had people at caps in, what, six weeks? I say it should be six months. If that's the plan, though, I think some other mechanics need to be rebalanced toward this (such as tree farming... losing trees on the herb table sucks).

Just to take an example, I started a new character last night just to check out the potential issues. Right away I was able to end up with better gear than before because I could make a spruce cap that didn't have +Stealth on it, and had a choice of going +UA to gather ants or +Surv to help with crafting and gathering. As it happened, I got lucky and was able to add both. Ya me!! I'm a natural 20 type of guy :P

I do not say this is good. I say this happens. But in the future I think you can take care to memory these items can change in value rapidly with patchings.

And I guess that mattered for ore quality too right? It's not like they would just go and reset the world without testing it for months! No, no, not at all.
