World is too small... after finally starting to settle, two boats with 4 people came in and aggro'd me and killed me for no reason. I literally had nothing (just the claim, not even built my first crate NOR claimed any rare/natural resource) When respawned, they said they just wanted to kill me and lol'd.

Jorb & Loftar, it's not by making the world smaller that you'll encourage "social interaction". You'll only encourage the shitty, toxic part of your community to grief for absolutely no reason.

I wasn't sure if I would play W9 because my family isn't playing anymore... Now I'm certainly not going to, lol

You settled on a mountain, also pretty damn close to Ice Dildos. It was logical for me to kill you before you can even think about taking it away from me and my villagers.

I didn't see the ice thing in question, wouldn't have hurt to ask first? That would be the logical thing, just attacking without even saying anything is the dumb irrational thing
I had no interest in it, I just wanted to try out a snow hermitage.

But ok, can't expect every player to be rational and diplomatic, lol.

Which is also a form of social interaction. It bothered me last world how my claim was poorly protected and full of loot, yet months of inactivity didn't cause anyone to loot my place; by the end of the world, all of my stuff was left entirely untouched. It's much more interesting when there's some danger.

Actually not. Violence is a form of interaction but not social interaction - as it is not a 'conflict of selves' but rather demonstration of oneself's strength, which makes it not a social interaction. (This is said by the famous philosopher Hannah Arendt and other sociologists, not me :P )

But I understand your point. Yeah, some danger is always nice. We endured (and recovered stronger!) an Erebus raid on the last world, and in the end losing all animals and all that was sad but also fun and engaging.

This is completely different from having a fresh-started character killed without any chance for dialogue because someone decided that place was theirs (even though there was no claim or anything) and game values are greatly unbalanced whereas things that were created to 'prevent' some intensity of griefing (like Nidbanes) are far from reality from sprucecaps with Rage on day 3.
So, yeah, I agree with you. But I don't think things are right the way they are right now :)
A small world and huge boons to LP is recipe to disaster in Haven, as we're seeing now. I walk around and all I see are sprucecaps corpses, lol.

I know :)
I'm just sad that with this new ice thing everyone covets so much and such a small world, my snowy hermitage dream will have to be abandoned :(

Well my initial joy has certainly waned. World to small special resources that blow game balance, murder in first two days, constant theft and raids... No thanks Ill be back when you restore balance. I'm done for now.

Best of luck everyone.

No, this is part of the danger. You currently cannot settle on mountains without serious risk of death unless you can defend yourself. You can complain about this being unfair, or you can adjust your strategy to mitigate the danger.
