nobody can reproduce the nvidia crash because there is nobody to PVP with because everybody quit over the nvidia crash. Nobody is going to fix this problem for you, it's just going to entirely kill the PVP scene permanently and open the game up to a new class of untouchable perma-murderous raging nab slayers with no real competition or reason to be afraid of doing w/e.

Additionally, as one of the people who kills scores of nabs who don't hearth I can tell you FOR SURE that the majority of them don't speak english well and that's why they didn't hearth. This new also english box that will have zero localization support won't rly help that

When you guys kneejerk respond to these complaints please don't do it in the most bare bones way like hearthing people on KO. The outlaw/redhand systems have no reason to exist whatsoever

honestly if you're not willing to run 4 different software tools and perform driver level dll debugging on loftar's behalf, can you even blame him for the crash anymore?

All I'm asking for is to turn on Minidumps for Java. And, I mean, if you have a better idea, I'm all ears.

This will hearth them home by default, though.

8 times out of 10 when less experienced players die its because they willingly close their client/force log out using :lo because they don't know how to deal with what's happening.
I'm sorry, no it won't. I say this in hopes that the suggested fix is actually applied, this feature should work the same if not logged in.

If they do that, they'll already log out, though, unless you're telling me that less experienced players walk around outlawed all day.

Also wtf is wrong with you selfish shits. Only talking about yourself being DC'd when KO'd and that being the problem, even though the core idea of the dialog is to reduce sprucecap deaths by a magnitude.

I have yet to read the whole thread, but next direction for devs would indeed be the boat/drowning thing and make crime mechanics more punishing and limiting. Also siege.

loftar wrote:the issue that the "correct" way to kill someone you had scents against was to just break their hearthfire and then teleport back home to commit the murder crime safely in the safety of your village. Also, even to the extent that it worked, it was always an ugly ad-hoc solution. I think the Outlaw mechanic is a lot more elegant than summoning in several such ways.

I'm gonna have to disagree here. Sure, summoning does require some ad-hoc bandaid fixes to address edge cases, but overall it seems much less messy to me. If the issue is you can avoid leaving a murder scent by breaking a criminals hearth fire, make breaking the hearth fire leave a murder scent. If you track down a criminal and get into their base to access their hearth, I think it's perfectly fair that you should be able to kill them. Having a fixed point to defend (a hearth fire) adds the possibility for retribution against those who commit crimes. Under the current no-log-out system, criminals can just hop all around the world and avoid any consequences of their actions. The outlaw mechanic, in this iteration, really fails to enable an actual crime and punishment system and just adds inconveniences.
(once and futue king btw)

when someone gets KO'd while dc'd you could auto log him out, when he logs back in he would receive a message pop up like when his place is blocked and he would need to hearth asking to travel to his hearth fire or stay in place. hopefully without any time to KO him again, he'll just spawn on his hearth fire upon logging in if the option was chosen.
problem solved.

@Shubla

The reason people are upset is because there has been a very significant problem for fighters/outlaws who are typically the most evangelical supports/most active players of haven. While this update wasn't targeted at them, with extremely minor changes it could've greatly reduced the effect of the issue while still achieving the main goal, but the devs are so far removed from what people have been screaming at them for years, and much more loudly in the last six months they seem unaware it was a problem. "Just log out".

NGL, Nightdawg is being an autist but this isn't just a college project anymore. There are thousands upon thousands of dollars worth of hats/sub time in my village alone. Seeing Loftar enjoying a previously evangelical supporter of his being very reasonably upset makes me kinda regret ever having spent money on this game.

P.S: surely an inexperienced player wouldn't accidentally scent themselves on something dumb when very experienced players do that all of the time huehuehue
