I have a hard time believing that in 2 years of development nobody took the time to take 15 minutes to explain the pricing scheme. Given how much time had to be spent actually setting up the shop and the games mechanics its foolish to believe that there wasn't any time to explain things to the community. Either this is intentionally predatory or its horrendously ignorant. Developers need to communicate adequately with the community in order to prevent these kind of backlashes. Changing a game from f2p to p2p is a huge change that can't simply be forgotten about until release.

I totally agree with you. I'm just waiting for both of them to post PSYCHE! and run off laughing. While they are the type to laugh at players who get mad, I doubt even they would be stupid enough to legitimately forget that this might be a thing and not even bother to talk to the players about it long before the release. I feel cheated, and I haven't even been here that long. I can only imagine what the veterans are feeling.

Don't get me wrong, I would be more than happy to do a one-time-only payment. They worked hard, and they deserve to be paid for it. But nearly a hundred bucks a year is not even close to what this game is worth in any sense. The store needs to be more clear on what I'm paying for, too; for the pay for time, does it carry over each month? If so, perfect. But that's another issue - it's not clear enough.

Now, before this turns into another of my rants, I'm going to force myself away from the keyboard.

Edit: and to bed, actually. I just saw the time. Good night, my fellow angry mob people.

Devs are people like us and they need money and I understand that. So, I do not mind paying for what it's worth, or even p2p if the game truly worth the subscripion fee. But I really don't think that Hafen worth the money devs are chaging at the moment. Just look at the qualities of other p2p games in the market (or many f2p games with partial payment options). Furthermore, if you devs really wanted to charge people, you guys should've had open beta period to fix horrifying bugs and server issues so the paid players can get what they paid for. And you devs definitely should've communicated with people beforehand like many other thread complains. The way you devs did it is like punching players in the face when we players were about to shake hands with devs. Furthermore your price discrimination simply sucks; it's outmoded, greedy, and unnecessarily complicated. If you want to charge people, take some time to study other competitors in the market. I would never pay more than $10 for initial purchace and $5 for subs for the game of this quality and inconveniency. And the game token is probably one of the most horrifying absurdities I've seen in the game industry during the last several years. P2W! Yay!

party arrow exists you just need to be within proximity of the person

Which is useless if you are trying to meet up with people that are halfway across the world

To break up the same communities that have existed over several iterations of the world, to give people a need and a cause to explore and wander and meet new people. To shake up the steady power structures we've had time and time again.

Because damn it, we're not psychic travellers with homing beacons to the rest of our flock.

Get out there and explore!

Re: Payment - I would be completely satisfied if the game were to persist as it had in the past, with updates coming as inspiration struck, resets when necessary or when major patches were made, and just generally having a grand old time. I bought my subscription before I even logged in because I knew it would be worth every penny, and I haven't been disappointed.
jorb: I don't want *your* money. You are rude and boring. Go away.
Sevenless: We already know real life has some pretty shitty game mechanics, it's why we're here instead.
Avu: The end is near it has finally come to pass: I agree with Lunarius...
Shubla: There are also other reasons to play this game than to maximize your stat gain.

The Store:

Everyone gets to play for free, this is good. You want to play a lot, get a subscription. You don't like it, leave. Simple, we're not building rockets here.
