Can being the key word here for rice and bamboo. Neither actually require being grown in water, they can just tolerate it, which is convenient because a lot of fungi and pests can't - and we don't have those in Haven.

Good mention right here, didn't know rice can be grown in other ways. Also pests is really a good idea. I've seen a few times here that people would like their vaults be endangered by means like that. It should happen only on large fields. And require some sort of skill for druids. It could provide some entertainment for hermits. Sense of minor danger is a really good thing in entertainment. Especially as most of hermit emotions are neutral and passive.

My satanic senses are tingling here. Sacrifices also were mentioned a few times. Some tribes sacrifice animals in order to please gods, in this case pests could be gone by a mere sacrifice, the higher the quality of sacrifice the longer range of pest control.

Maybe devs should remove permadeath or reduce impact of it. To get more players and money as people dont quit when they die to the bear for first time.

we need seasons, and survive the fucking winter with no crops on a month,frozen lakes/rivers and low rate animals, no rabbits, no squirrels, only bears and pack of foxes.

Dealing with hypothermia and forcing us to settle on caves.

I wish I hadn't read all of this. All I have to say is that I would have loved to have gotten enough notice to use some vacation time.

Bears do sleep in caves during winter, rabbits still go out from time to time, squirrels dig out seeds they have hidden.

Oh, bears in caves instead of bats ¦]

I, too, like this idea. in fact I would combine it with other from various posts and ask that
each stockpile have its own differentiation be it as small as color change or icon change.

I think the best way to get more players is to promote the game so that others know it exists. In my opinion that would be more effective than any change in the game's mechanics.

Ladygoo has her helpdesk and coles does his twitch thing. It's not too difficult to capitalize on initiatives like these. I've said it before, and I do think learning the basics is perhaps the biggest barrier for keeping new players.

That simply is not the case. Right or wrong, I will not debate with you, you are entitled to your opinion no matter how ludicrous it is ;-)

But seriously the reason I want permadeath gone is because I want this game to succeed. Simple. I, personally, do not mind permadeath. I have played it
in other games and its all good, BUT the majority of people WILL NOT play a game with permadeath. And before you go saying that I dont know anything and there
are 200 people that play this game and for 99% it is because of perma death I will explain how I came to my learned opinion....
I have been online gaming since Meridian 59 and have been a Leader or Member of many many guilds since Ultima Online. Some of those guild members I am still in touch with
for over 20 years. Now the only reason I point that out is not to say how cool I am or anything but to explain the vast number of people I am in contact with regarding gaming.
The guilds I am in, or converse regularly with, range in size from the teens to the hundreds. Since starting playing Salem 3, almost 4, years ago I have been trying to get people
to join me in playing. Out of the hundreds I have tried to get to play almost every single one said no and for the same reason.... Permadeath. The general consensus among
them is that permadeath is a mechanic that justs wastes your time. And these are people from Hardcore full loot PvP games as well as AAA themepark games.
