You're very annoying. They were joking.
You've stated your opinion already like 50 times, maybe the devs will consider it, maybe they will not.

Stop belittling other people simply because they have a different vision for the game than you.
You're as expendable as any one of us are here. People like you will come and go. Nobody cares that you were guild master of some shitty game elsewhere. It doesn't make you important, nor your opinion more valid than others.
Jesus.

I really do not think it is stupidity, I think it is more ignorance. You assume your way of thinking is right and therefore everyone should think like you do.
That simply is not the case. Right or wrong, I will not debate with you, you are entitled to your opinion no matter how ludicrous it is ;-)

But seriously the reason I want permadeath gone is because I want this game to succeed. Simple. I, personally, do not mind permadeath. I have played it
in other games and its all good, BUT the majority of people WILL NOT play a game with permadeath. And before you go saying that I dont know anything and there
are 200 people that play this game and for 99% it is because of perma death I will explain how I came to my learned opinion....
I have been online gaming since Meridian 59 and have been a Leader or Member of many many guilds since Ultima Online. Some of those guild members I am still in touch with
for over 20 years. Now the only reason I point that out is not to say how cool I am or anything but to explain the vast number of people I am in contact with regarding gaming.
The guilds I am in, or converse regularly with, range in size from the teens to the hundreds. Since starting playing Salem 3, almost 4, years ago I have been trying to get people
to join me in playing. Out of the hundreds I have tried to get to play almost every single one said no and for the same reason.... Permadeath. The general consensus among
them is that permadeath is a mechanic that justs wastes your time. And these are people from Hardcore full loot PvP games as well as AAA themepark games.

Except the devs' goal is not for the game to "succeed", it's for them to mold the game however they want, while it retains enough players for it to be interesting and enough paying players for it to be financially viable.

Permadeath is interesting to the devs so they will not remove it.

While I do enjoy the permadeath aspect of Haven, I think that something along the lines of dropping all of your gear on death and getting lengthy debuff that would make you really dead would be cool. I also think that good alternative to that would be to make scents work in a similar way. Like theft making you lose 30% of stats after death for the period of the scent duration and escalating with the weight of a crime, but I'm afraid that would make people just make alts for commuting crimes.

yeah, I would like the game to become more casual when it comes to death penalty. The 5th world in a row in which I will have to grind hard and die at one point and then grind again just to be able to PvP and be competitive is starting to really wear me down... I would love to be able to do PvP and stand up to hardcore players even if I'm playing casually.

Yeah, I do enjoy combat, but I just can't bare to sit down and grind out to have a character that won't get 2 tapped.

I'm not the one complaining about current game mechanics and asking them to be changed. I'm accepting the core game mechanics as they come, i do not ( like you ) assume my way of thinking is the right. It is you who is pushing your views unto others because 'it will make the game better' :lol:Pure hypocrisy, you should really reread the things you are saying, hilarious. All i did was defend that core mechanic when the likes of you started to complain about that mechanic.

KatoKhan wrote:i know like 300+ people that play hardcore games and other mmo and they dont like permadeath, believe me because i'm telling you and i have massive experience with other people, they told me. True story! I was a champion in other games

This is a summary of your arguments. Who are these 'friends' of yours, are you sure they exist? I honestly think you are bragging about things that were never there, maybe in your head but not in reality. Did you ever consider these people didnt want to join you here and in Salem and used permadeath as an excuse?

In short, i really think you're full of it and project your own shortcomings on others. It is you who should think before he posts and not the others.

KatoKhan wrote:  First of all I have a small Disclaimer. I played Salem off and on (mostly off) for about 3 years but total playing time prolly like 6 months. I quit forever when I was slaughtered for no reason other than the sport of it and when I went to the forums to ask for help getting revenge all my posts were deleted by a dev friend of the Murderer.

....but maybe i shouldn't have expected any less from you and your saltyness
It's the same thing all the time. All your type does is throw insults around and then when people won't take your absurd claims for truth you kick in the famous ;

For the next world I'd like to see:
The ability to pull up minehole rope ladders so it becomes a 1 way ticket down.
Freedom of movement for wagons. Into the deepest mines, up the highest mountains and across the widest rivers(raft sux and is not fun).
More uses for special resource nodes. I hope you remember you said next world nodes spawn empty.

I would like to die because I am either dumb or owned. Getting killed by being stuck on a tree, bug abuse or any other uncontrollable way is unforgiving. Perma-death is a must as there is no way to predict whether you got killed in a forgiving way. The only way I see something happen to it is with something similar to honor system. Where % of what your ancestor can receive back is based upon a fate of death. For example honorable death is when you fight a stronger oponent. It should retain the most LP. But if in fight there is a swarm of little guys. They should be penalized as a whole swarm. This will avoid zerg rushes with couple of cheap alts.

To clarify, honor system would work like this:

Everybody has 100% honor at start of a fight.
Dealing damage decreases your honor by ratio between his and enemies strength and HP loss.
Getting damaged increases your honor by HP you've lost.

In equal 1vs1 fight ratio is 1.0, so losing 1% and dealing 1% of damage makes your honor 100%. This assumes that at the end of the fight honor of lost side will be above 100%, let's cap it at 100% and divide it by 2. Losing side in this case will receive 50% of LP return.

In unequal fight 1vs1 with a fight ratio of 0.5 for one side and 2.0 for another. Let's call them a weak and strong guy.
Weak guy is killed taking half of HP of a strong guy. This means that weak guy at that moment has 100% of honor because of ratio 2.0, in equal fight with 1.0 ratio he would have only 50% of honor because he lost 100% of his HP and dealt only 50% of damage. So at start he had 100%, he gained 50%*2.0 and lost 100%*0.5, so this equals to (100%+50%*2.0-100%*0.5 == 150%) capped at 100%. In result his capped honor is divided by 2, so he receives 50% LP in return. If strong guy loses dealing 50% HP, then he will have (100%+50%*0.5-100%*2.0 == -75%) honor. Capped at some minimum like 10% or 20%.

Ill add hopefully add more info some other time as I've deleted all this text which was twice as big, with page refresh... But I hope you guys get it

Much like the suggestion box, I don't think we're going to see any commentary until it is implemented.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.
