I got into this game back in the previous world, positioning myself as a PvP player. But the water mechanics and the very specific combat system forced me to rethink my stance on PvP. Now I’m just a little PvE bunny—like everyone else—scrambling toward a claim while dropping little "Nesquik" pellets along the way.

https://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/Murder (You definitely can still be killed, but it kind of requires you to not know how to not get killed.)

https://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/Thing_Challenge (Palisade can only be broken with a Siege Engine, and currently there are severe restrictions on when/if they can be built. And that's only the first hurdle to go through...)

As much as I'd like to call Snail a dumb doomer, it's basically impossible to honestly compare world 7 (now titled 'Legacy') and the current version, without admitting that certain aspects of the game haven't been effectively neutered. I still maintain that the Legacy has some polar opposite issues, but arguably the current version is even further skewed away from the hypothetical sweet spot where both the people who want this game to be "Stardew Valley Online" and "Lord of the Flies Simulator" could enjoy different parts of it.

See this thread for further reading, basically one could say that the game has been covered with bubblewrap but somehow in a way that is not obvious, and "poor helpless newbs" still get their heads bashed in on the few remaining hard surfaces. If you'd want to be negative/realist (depending on your perspective of Jorbtar) you could say they have managed to build the worst possible PvP system, one where you can't kill your opponent in a faction PvP fight, but noobs still die because they try to swim away, oblivious to the fact that deep water is actually more deadly than a two-handed battleaxe to the skull.

What's your issue with water? I honestly think it isn't the most broken "pvp feature"

Another way to die that people seem to gloss over is to get attacked by more than one well equipped person when your char isn't well armoured. Won't happen for the first month or so but after two months attribute and equipment difference means its possible to die even from full health (no wounds).

if u are kindof ok at the game this kills you 0% of the time
if u r rly bad at the gaem and they press murderous rage and know how to kill people and execute it perfectly this still only kills you like 30% of the time

It’s not difficult, just tedious and unpleasant.

*Shrugs* It was 3 vs 1, I started full HP no wounds. Pretty sure I stabilized my openings below 30-40% but couldn't get it lower due to cooldowns (it was W16.0, don't remember exact details) but chip damage kept doing pretty significant HHP damage. Eventually they were able to kill me with one big hit.

I'm unsure what skill issues I'm missing there regarding the "fight" except for opting into the 3v1 in the first place instead of purely running away.

if you were not wearing armor and you were running at 3 real looking people instead of creating distance ye I'd put that pretty firmly in the suicide category

tbh I think just not wearing armor inherently puts you in the skill issue camp since there's no reason to do that, but it would still be fine if you were decent at running

Probably won't play this world. Don't see any major new content to justify it and the timing isn't great either. Would've been better if it came out in October or November.
