Ah, I see. That does make sense.

Be interesting to see the difference in demographics.

Indeed, the return of a single quality system akin to legacy would work wonders for those learning the game. Tri-quality just confuses the hell out of newer players and turns them off I think.

I'm not sorry to see tri-quality go, but single quality feels like it might be too simplistic? I like what tri-quality seemed to be trying to do--what if we just knocked it down to a bi-quality system? We could make it just Substance and Essence (and fold Vitality under Substance), or come up with two totally other things the numbers could represent. It'd be more intuitive to grasp and manage gameplay-wise, and it'd probably be easier to make two qualities work in a manner closer to what jorbtar would like/initially imagined than the tri-qual.

What the hell was the triple quality system supposed to be for, anyway? I didn't really quite see what the particular point was. :|
"...the dungeon and shackles are already at my threshold to show me here and now my eternal disgrace. Only you can work the miracle to make life possible for a soul so imperiled by doubt, O Atoner for all, exalted beyond saying." - St. Gregory of Narek, Book of Lamentations, Prayer 1.

You are much loved! Love in return!

I think the idea was that a player could choose which quality to push up because others wouldn't be as worthwhile, but in reality you want all the qualities up in nearly all items.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

I much prefer single quality. I understand why tri-quality was done but its more annoying than fun.

Agreed regarding quality, I paid almost no attention to it at all and simply averaged them to a single quality.
The one use I did find was triangulating ore quality when exploratory mining by following individual quality type increases to find where they overlapped to produce the highest average quality.
