Glad to hear it.

That's the idea. I have it in my head to try to do bi-weekly patches.

Thank god there is audience from the richest countries. They will pay 10$ - 15$ per month after 48 hours of initial play time, no shit.

Indeed :) Maybe 10% of current population, if not less, are stated ad Germany and USA. So yea, much audience, so money.

I'd pay that $15 a month if it was really worth it. (I mean i probably will anyway because I love the game and I want to support it), but the problem is that in other games for $15 a month you get support, non crashing servers, and a stable game. This is an alpha. In my opinion something more than 5 but less than 10 would be a fair price for an alpha which is unstable ($6.99 or something).

This game is worth monetizing, no question about it, and the amount of effort jorbtar have put into it deserves to have some returns.
You guys have an already amazing game here with immense potential. I pay for many of my games be it p2p / b2p, hafen would have been no different. In my opinion, it is worth even the 10$ a month for those who are uncertain about the long term.

But not like this, not without any communication leading up to the release after a precedent that has been the exact opposite. I will probably change my mind some time later simply because I lack any form of self-control, but for now at least, have fun my friends.

Look, I'm only trying to shoot straight with you. You are not entitled to anything, and if that doesn't sit well with you then Alt + F4 is always an option.

I feel I need to underscore that it is what it is, is all. We may change things down the road, evolve them further, make it more to your liking, but I can't guarantee that.

If you expect me to deliver

  • A flawless server, running perfectly smoothly on the first day of operation with full uptime.
  • A feature list rivaling ten year old MMOs.
  • For free
Then I kind of feel obliged to inform you that, no, that is indeed not what we have on offer here. This is a game developed by two (2) enthusiasts solely on the premise that it could be awesome.

I want you to play. Obviously.

But we need to be clear about what the circumstances actually are. This game is fairly well polished, I would argue, but the server infrastructure and whatnot have not been seriously tested, as testing that would imply, well, launching.

Here we are.

You keep telling people to go away. This was my point in my first post, that it isn't really helpful to say that and that you might be better off actually communicating with your (potential and current) customers in ways other than "go away if you dont like it" or "they're just emotionally incontinent" and so on.

We can see the launch is going badly in terms of reception and in terms of performance, so why not start a discussion about where you're going from here rather than dismissing the people (not just their opinions, but the people) who are raising issues with what's going on?

Would it be helpful to your understanding if we wrote "Kickstarter" in the header instead of "Store"?

There are people out there charging money for air and promises, and for some obscure reason we get the rage.

I'm really glad the payment system is real as I hope it will keep most trolls who come here just to destroy stuff away, but I had been thinking:

Does this not mean that people with big wallets will be allowed to run bots while the rest can't? Consdiering most botters seem to be russian I highly doubt they can afford that, but still.

That street goes two ways, sir.

The complaints in this thread have been, indeed "but the game isn't stable", "but the game doesn't have the feature list of other MMOs", "but the game isn't free". I'm just pointing out that those expectations are kind of mutually exclusive along at least a couple of dimensions.

Hear Hear!

Trust me peeps you couldn't dream of making a better game. I've dared to try and it hurts knowing its gonna take me years to make it lol.

This game has substance and passion. Something lost back in the 80's and early to mid/late 90's in terms of game development
