Well it's been two years of development for our eyes only, so the start is of course going to have some downtime while we iron out kinks and stress test.

Come back in a year and try it then if that's not your thing, maybe?

I'd like to point out that -- speaking of having money down -- we've spent two years on this thing without seeing a nickle.

I'm sure you got some donations.
And there are plenty of people who develop games without seeing a nickle, that's why it's called an alpha or beta stage. Because it still has stuff to work out and it's not a product ready to be paid for yet.
The servers are still unstable. The game itself still crashes a lot.
It's not ready for release as of yet and making people pay $10/month or 6 if you choose to pay a whopping $72 is way too much for a lot of your community, who's seen how you disappear every so often and is pissed off they have to pay without being told anything.

I don't hate you. I understand you. But you are doing it wrong way. You haven't prepared anyone and now, people will bounce away. Not everyone, but probably most of those who can't pay that much.

Jorb i agree on the payment stuff, you need to earn something !
I am glad to pay and later on people will accept it.
But ... in my opinion you should have given the first month or at least 2 weeks free since this launch is only alpha. That way people would not get so angry would start to develop in the game and also help you test stuff and test the servers stability.
After everything would start to turn ok and with lower crashes then deploy the payment requirements.

Would it be helpful to your understanding if we wrote "Kickstarter" in the header instead of "Store"?

There are people out there charging money for air and promises, and for some obscure reason we get the rage.

Rage is simple. HnH was always free and after 2 years of waiting and two weeks of hype "It`s coming, it`s almost done!!!" we got game that we, most likely, will not play due to pricing.

And indeed, we never were explicitly told it would be free, but it was meant by the sheer fact that this game was always free.

So yea, we all feel a little bit cheated. Or sad. Or both.

Yes, we did. Presently we have a grand total of a whooping one thousand dollars in it. 1058,34, to be exact.

We've used maybe another 2k that we've gotten.

Donations have gained us vanishingly little.

I actually agree with you. We should have started charging money a long time ago.

what about extending the time granted by the free option and the fake one-time-game-purchase?

nope, not anymore, your not just playing a forum game anymore dude, your public relations talking to your consumer, and you are really hurting your product each time you act snippy. I'm not trying to hurt your feelings but you have to admit you have been pouring gasoline on the fire. I get it, that is a hobby but if you really want to make this your real life job it's really best nit to burn it to the ground on day one so you can watch the smolder. PLEASE make some announcements clearing up the confusion with exactly what people will be paying for with each form (people think they are getting 720 hours, they need to be corrected or they will be livid), and maybe try tossing us a bone of revealing a bunch of hotkeys to do stuff like put items into a container in a single click so the forum can have something else to focus on it could really help. Just like everyone keeps saying, stop shitting on us and give us some information that people can chew on.

The complaints in this thread have been, indeed "but the game isn't stable", "but the game doesn't have the feature list of other MMOs", "but the game isn't free". I'm just pointing out that those expectations are kind of mutually exclusive along at least a couple of dimensions.

This is all about market, open the steam and look at the prices, and look at the fate of even last AAA MMO with subscription.

Do you feel lucky, Jorb? Well, do ya?
