I think you miss the major point of the discussion--ONLY if the claim shield is gone. There has been some "complexities" to raiding by compartmentalizing claims* and making it require catapulting multiple walls once the shield is down. Nothing new to this, but I think the feeling is that if you want to go to this level to protect a village/encampment/whatever, then one should pony up for the brick walls (or better). I'm still agreeing with a post Avu made here a while back in that all walls should be bashable, but as there's a fixed limit to STR well below that of the required number, it'd be pointless changes for brick walls.
*edit: more so than in the past from what little I've seen... as in putting up walls just to put up more walls for someone to have to bash through with siege equipment that is harder to move than previous worlds.
