Hi jorb & loftar. I'm not sure if you're reading this, but in case you are, I was just reading through the posts regarding alt characters and how to prevent (or minimize) their creation. I believe this could be fixed by introducing very rare consumable items that reduce your losses on death; this way, instead of making two or more characters "in case one dies", you could put those efforts into obtaining one of those rare items, therefore accomplishing the same objective but without having the need to use alts. Death would still be punishing since while you would not lose as many stats you would lose that very rare item. This is an example of how the Ultima Online-inspired MMORPG "Tibia" works, in which you can purchase very expensive Blessings from NPCs that reduce your exp and item losses on death, and it worked very well over there: despite the very punishing deaths, people still engage both in pvp and dangerous pvm all the time. I know some people will think I'm a carebear for suggesting this and that it defeats the point of "permadeath", but if acquiring one of those rare items takes as much or more effort than making an alt, then how is it not just as punishing (if not even more so)?

I managed to get both Thursday and Friday off work, so obviously it's going to be Thursday.

I only managed to get Monday Tuesday and Wednesday off. So either Thursday or Friday doesn't effect me to much.

They should only allow one character per account/ email address and only one account per IP address.

Of course people can bypass this but at least it puts something in place.

then you'd have to change the stamina / hunger system and fishing. I am against bots and multiclient too, on the other hand you don't really have a choice to have alts now do you ?

This only increases the advantage of dedicated cheaters. Getting extra e-mail addresses is trivial, and it's not that hard to get multiple IP addresses either.

The only people you'd be screwing with this are the fair players, whose options are suddenly limited by this ineffective attempt to stop bots.

Yeah. Your right, I did think about that after my post. The people who bot at the moment will go out of their way to set up their computer to do just that leaving a even bigger gap between normal players and hardcore players.

I just really want a 1 player 1 character scenario but guess that will never happen!
