OMG INSTRUMENTS!

When you guys mentioned them some while ago, I thought it was like in the realm of the "far future possible updates we can dream about for years"
...

But no, how happy I am to be wrong!
THANK YOU :)

Wow what a cool update.. It's really nice to see recreational items being added in rather than just survival and crafting ones. Perhaps board games or something one day? That would be awesome.. You guys could easily make a chess board that works like any other storage that can only hold chess pieces. Anyhow nice update :)

I'd like to, but the delay is still purely administrative, and I don't think there's any way for me to accelerate it. We're progressing, at least.

Your skep was probably built before that were made to have quality. Even later ones aren't actually affected by their quality. though. I just added that for future-proofing in case we want to incorporate it into the mechanic.

Oh, by the way... is this system in any form similar (in terms of functionality) to the music system in LOTRO (Lord of the Rings Online)?
It plays similarly and the neat thing about LOTRO is that the notes are translated by the code from 'midi' notes - so the game can read ABC music files (which are basically MIDI sheets)

Is it the same? Could Haven (through official implementation or client modding) read an ABC file and play it in the game?

EDIT:
Just for clarification; of course I know it's not the same system. I meant the way it works, by translating midi notes (input) and playing proper, nicer sounds (output)

Well, it has nothing with MIDI to do, at least. Neither do I know anything about LoTRO's music system. It does, of course, take a note number and modulate the basic sound to it. It would be nice to add more basic sounds so that lower and higher notes sound better, though, but it was hard to find usable sounds of larger scales.

Aww, I see.
Well, it would still be possible by creating something in the middle that translates ABC files into the game's correct inputs.

So it would read a sheet, create a logical order of commands by translating each note into a game command (Ctrl+B, Shift+C, etc, etc...) and time it based on the tempo of the sheet - then play it back in the game...

Well, I might consider working on that as some sort of addon to custom clients, but we'll see, we'll see... :)

Thanks anyway, lovely addition! :D
