White, Yellow, Red, Green, Blue, Purple, Black

That'd be it.. N'more, n'less.

so if they're not going for full LARP mode, why the shitty palette at all?

Honestly, I wish they had gone for a full medieval Heraldry experience... At least then I could put my RL knowledge of RL Heraldric Experience to work outside of the SCA.

No Metals (Yellow/White (Gold/Silver)) on metals.
No Colors on Colors.
Cannot Conflict with existing Heraldry.
Furs count as Neutral (Ermine, Counter-Ermine, etc)

And the fun and games that involve how to cheat these rules and still make a 'legal' device... All in my brainpan. XD
jorb: I don't want *your* money. You are rude and boring. Go away.
Sevenless: We already know real life has some pretty shitty game mechanics, it's why we're here instead.
Avu: The end is near it has finally come to pass: I agree with Lunarius...
Shubla: There are also other reasons to play this game than to maximize your stat gain.

If they did that they might as well have just made a few designs on their own and not have people upload custom images because whats the point.
With the current system you can still go for somewhat complex pictures and have them decent looking and worth paying for. No one's gonna pay for 2 red stripes on white.
