It was generally weird when we transferred it from the old server; we had to try the rename of the forums (into the hearth vault) many a time, because it happened several times that entire subforums just disappeared mysteriously and other strange things. That just generally left me with the impression of phpBB that it does weird stuff which I don't understand.

I have some suspicions:

• Server crashes by power outages when it still was in Jorbs flat (prior to me gifting that UPS) caused corruption that surfaced way later?
• Bitrot: had there been ECC RAM (and checksumming filesystems) in use in all servers the forum ran on over the years?
• You're using a quite vintage version of phpBB, possibly an obscure bug that had been fixed in a more recent version?

Noticed some of our stickies and priority threads are duplicated, like "The Rules," primarily because some folks worked to dig up the old threads from cached sources. If anyone notices these, point them out, please.
