You can't expect everyone to gather these crazy resources just to redesign palisades...

Again, wrecking balls still work as they've always done.

You can use it against others, too, but since it's still normally hand-bashable, it will be worse for doing so, especially as we otherwise make hand-bashing of the other siege machines harder.

makes the whole update pointless

We wanted to add the other mechanics first so that they can be somewhat tested before we started tightening the thumb-screws on the defenders.

How are we supposed to test mechanics, u have to make a catapult and a battering ram survive for 24H to test this right? quite hard

We're not entirely sure on where to go with it. We want to keep some incentive to go out and attack the machines.

You should have made it so charge up required attackers to be present to encourage PvP and risk for the attackers. A failed siege is just a few materials loss for attackers which isn't a big deal for big time raiders. A failed defense is losing most of your shit probably.

Battering Rams can attack Palisades after 24 hours, and Brick Walls after 32 hours.

But if wrecking ball is unchanged, and ready in 24 hours, isnt it preferable to use especially against brick wall? Since siege engines are hand bashable anyways

Pretty good idea right there actually. Makes perfect sense and is fair to everyone. Unlike the current implementation which just gave everyone who has ever built a border cairn extra resources equivalent to (X * # of additional resources per cairn).

For one thing, there is of course reason for combat in a siege; if you kill the siegers, there won't be anyone to operate the siege machines.

However, we're probably not going to make the siege machines entirely invincible against hand-bashing, rather make it take longer and longer to hand-bash them, until we reach some reasonable balance. Or something like that. Do feel free to make suggestions.

is it possible to destroy village banners with the rams while village idol is still up?
will it be possible to destroy open gates (visitor gates) with the ram?
will the splash ever work on open gates? as right not it does not.
will it be possible to get inside the archery tower if not to shoot arrows, then to at least pretend and to shittalk demoralize your enemy with a greater efficiency?

So apparently you still need to guard a siege engine entire 24hours in a row in order to destroy a wall. Even 32 hours for a brick wall. And if that's not enough, as a defender, you don't need to actually leave your safe-pali to defend. Congrats. You've made it worse.
P.S. I liked the previous concept.
P.S.S. Why have you chosen to pick every bad thing about existing siege system and bring it again in a new one with even more problems.
What the actual fuck, Jorb?
