I am interested to see what seasons will bring in the future, I like the idea of seasons but I have to admit they worry me a bit ... I don't play on the scale I used to after all these years and a lot of previous new mechanics, such as changes to farming, mining, wounds and credos (amount of quests) among other things, have slowed the game down to the point that whilst I still enjoy it, I am kinda burnt out by it all and am unwilling to put the amount of effort into it that I used to.

Already lack of crops for ten days means I have had to expand my tiny farm for the breeding pairs of livestock that I have for produce purposes, which means more time spent farming and feeding ... less time out and about exploring, questing, socialising and enjoying what I find fun in the game.

The thought of future updates bringing more wounds and hardships to hearthlings in the winter months, whilst appealing to some, just honestly fills me with dread and disappointment ... ten rl days may not seem that long but if it's spent suffering ... ;)

But, congratz on finally bringing seasons to the game, also on the new job Jorb, I hope you enjoy it. :)

As expected, the clip showing the changes to the hearthlands looks beautiful as do the new effects on the trees. :D

Is animal breeding slated to become cyclical too, with the lambs dropping only in spring and similar changes?

Great progress for sure, but as a hermit I want to echo the sentiment in Amandas post. Is there a plan to add more content or mechanics that add to the game/player experience rather than subtract or limit? (Aside from the direct implementation itself)

This now means if I need to forage or hunt for X, I now am not only limited by locality, but also seasons/time in general, before I might have to travel far, but now I literally have to wait days/weeks to obtain specific things? It also means I need to find more time to farm to prepare for winter, which I like in theory. But why not offset this by giving us a harvest boost of some sort in summer? +10-25% crop yield or something of that nature.

What about new players who start in/around winter? The lack of available food to keep energy up was already a struggle early on, this is going to make it much worse.

This would be a great opportunity to add some new top tier seasonal forgeables of all types, specifically curiosities to help boost the value of foraging.

Also not sure how many hours per week you currently invest on average, but I hope that number is not lowered or limited in any way by your new side gigs, big fan of the game and how far its come and would hate to see something as solid as this foundational implimentation end up never fully utilized due to developer time constraints.

When custom clients were down after this update the server population dipped down below 100 for several hours. Someone updated Amber and it rose again. I think it's important to notice how deeply connected player population and custom clients are.

One of these days you guys are going to need to bring the default client up to par because these unpaid client devs aren't going to do the work for you guys forever, even though it may seem like that based on haven's entire history

Maybe we could get some winter exclusive crops or a hardy crop that survives all year long.

Given the history of online gaming... yes. yes, they will. The question will be if there's "the right people" to do this type of stuff at the time they're needed.

Pretty crazy a good chunk of the community is practically dependent on the custom clients. Not really sure why having a ui with some qol items isn't standard. Not even talking about scripting or botting but simple ergonomic stuff.

I agree that a lot of the QoL stuff that is added in via Amber and other clients should be in the standard client. However, just look at how many UI mods exist for any game out there. No one UI fits everyone.

My man's out here speaking truth. I enjoy the game a lot, I enjoy the effort a lot- I got introduced through ardennes client- When it and amber were both down and I tried out default I was so floored with how many basic things such as proper camera control and basic functionality such as being able to see what's an empty cupboard and what as at least one item in it was just -gone- and I'm a semi dedicated casual player in the sense that- I bot and automate absolutely nothing, I don't worry about playing catch up with 12-20 of the highest end people rolling 1K attributes deep. I just like to grow orchards and make booze and craft good quality curios for my buddies and hunt. And even then I noticed the lack of QoL options and- Without intending to be rude, common sense solutions and fixes.
