tbh this combat change is total ass and the server is EXTREMELY LAGGY lately

Jorb, Loftar: I suggest reverting this change and starting a thread about whatever pvp ideas you've got planned. Then you could get proper feedback before wasting your time on something that makes the game even more unbalanced.

I understand the potential issue with not raising CON and raising MHP via items.

That aside, I feel like many comments are taking the new modifier out of context from the rest of the damage equation. At the end of the day, the change can be analyzed based on the impact it has on the number of hits required to kill a player. If you look at how CON scales from low values to high values with this in mind, I think the new change has the desired effect.

Here is an example snapshot, with CON scaling from 10 to over 7000. Effective HP is calculated based on a q300 B12 Cleave with 50% openings, on a 1000 STR character. Aside from STR, these assumptions are arbitrary, as the new modifier will impact the rest equally.

TLDR version:
The change dampens the impact of a large gap between CON and STR (in both directions). It does not invert the value of CON, as some posters appear to believe.

More CON is still better than less CON. More STR is still better than less STR. Just less so in extremes now, for both stats.

Why is this a bad change?
