I see steel, meteorite (wut?), wood, wood, iron, and....which hard metal looks like gold, but aint quite gold bud?

Answer to the riddle: eznorB

Or it's a 3rd wood type? Couple of woods have about that color, too.

There are some woodtypes, where the boards look goldish as well. Could be that :D

Some nice QoL. Drippy hat, don't get why dugouts need seaworthiness. It's well-stated they can't be out on the sea right? Or is that going to change?

Obviously. Both of you have been into too much opium lately... obviously. It's obviously not gold because you can't use gold, and it's obviously not bronze because it's not the bronze color.
The logic of obviousness dictates that when given multiple possible explanations, some of which may be true and some of which may be false, if by eliminating the obviously false choices you are left one one explanation left, you have an obvious truth.

Among the reasons why I was convinced otherwise was that it's useful when going through vortices, and also because I myself have used dugouts this world to traverse very small stretches of deep sea.

Nothing spectacular, but QoL updates like these are likely to have a bigger impact on my gameplay than a lot of content additions. The tar kiln change seems particularly useful.
