Game Development: Merry Igloo!

Postby jorb » Sun Dec 19, 2021 9:32 pm

We've been developing, and here's what's new.

Image

New Implementations
-----------------------
  • Added "Igloo", building made from snow. It will melt in spring!
  • Added "Plum Pudding", or at least a take on this traditional English recipe.
  • Added "Dried Fig", seasonal treat dried on a Herbalist Table.
  • Added "Jelly Casing", a casing made from gellant and flour.
  • Added "Fruit Salad", dessert made from... fruit!

Key Fixes
-----------------------
  • Added some Road building QoL. A vector is now drawn between the previous Road sign, and the one you are currently placing, indicating the walk path the placement will yield. The game will by default prevent blocked roads from being built, but you can insist by holding shift.
  • Redrew various UI elements in higher resolution to better support UI scaling: Log in button, buttons to shift character selection list up/down, "New Character"-button.
  • The default client now displays LP per hour information on curiosities. Hovering over a curiosity will color all curios currently in your mentory in shades of green or red, depending on if their LP/h is better or worse than the one you're currently hovering over.

Small Fixes
-----------------------
  • While holding an item and right-clicking a container, you can now hold Alt to only take from the container, rather than first attempting to transfer to the container. Useful, for example, when you want to light a branch on a fireplace without first filling the fireplace up with fuel (e.g. branches).
  • Fixed a bug by which "Brandy" could not be learned.
  • Added debug code to find the problem with mandrake spawning.
  • Churning butter is now faster.
  • Added a descriptive tooltip to "Still".
  • Fixed a bug by which going directly from boat to a horse would give added statusbar meters erroneous offsets.
  • Fixed a bug by which outlaws could be dismounted when not logged in.

As always, if you liked what we did here: Support the patch.

Today's Patch Items, for the fair price of $5, $10, and $15, are the "Igloo Saturne", "Christmas Treetop", and the "Christmas Sprucecap".

Store Description wrote:Image$5 It is said that elves live on the edge of its rim, in celebration of Christmas without end.

Store Description wrote:Image$10 Up since dawn, selling a forest of Christmas Trees, freezing, but blessing the joyous season.

Store Description wrote:Image$15 A mere beginner at the Christmas festivities, this hat nevertheless shines with starry optimism.

All Silver subscribers have been awarded the "Igloo Saturne", and all Gold subscribers have been awarded the "Igloo Saturne" and the "Christmas Treetop", free of charge.

In the Pipe
-----------------------
  • With this patch, we are signing off for some holiday r'n'r, but not before also throwing a Christmas stream tomorrow. Come hang out! 20:00 UTC!
  • We are working on a conversation system for quest givers, which is currently our bigger project (tm). Making progress, but patches may not be weekly.
  • Again urging any custom client maker who wishes to stay relevant to get with the new rendering times. Support for the old resources will be dropped at some point.
  • Our primary development direction is toward object-controlled-objects.
  • Time to... like us on Facebook?
  • Time to... follow us on Twitter?

Enjoy!

Is this correct? Nobody got the other hat with their subs?

Who would be an example? From what I can tell, the hats were given out correctly.

I mean, were the Christmas sprucecaps not given out as a sub hat?

No, the "Christmas Treetop" was.

Igloos, awesome :D

Added some Road building QoL. A vector is now drawn between the previous Road sign, and the one you are currently placing, indicating the walk path the placement will yield. The game will by default prevent blocked roads from being built, but you can insist by holding shift.

Pretty nice qol for roads

While holding an item and right-clicking a container, you can now hold Alt to only take from the container, rather than first attempting to transfer to the container. Useful, for example, when you want to light a branch on a fireplace without first filling the fireplace up with fuel (e.g. branches).

More key commands that will never be written down anywhere ingame
