Trapping Innocent animals in Doors ;D

Well, this is kinda the way i hunt but it
makes it a little too easy to kill anything..

Ok, so,
-i take animals to my gate
-i put them on the gate tiles
-i close the gate (see where i'm going?)
-i give them a hug and a kiss goodbye ;D
-then i shoot them with a bow all day if it's
like a bear or i could walk up n punch it to
death even.

I would think you need to make it so that
you can't close a gate while there is anything
in the way like an animal or a person...i've only
trapped 2 ppl! and i let them go!! (or extend into
a gate, man how i hate that..)

But what about if someone like Rift is lurking around, and as soon
as you open the gate, he sprints over there and stands in the way
while his merry men runs through and violates your backyard?
You can't close the gate and you can't kill him. :P

Unless, of course, he sees a lvl 20 bear and just has to kill it.
That's it! We need lvl 20 bears!
Perfect solution to a problem we never knew we had.

You are right, though, this is a problem.

I remember discussing it with Loftar long ago, but we never really
came to a conclusion. I think the best solution is to make it so that
you can always close the gate, and if someone gets "trapped" he/she/it
can always walk out of the gate's bounding box, but only in the
outward direction.
But then you'd have to declare an inside and outside of the gate,
or which direction it opens.

Maybe so that when you close a gate
everyone/thing is pushed ? They could
probly do that, dunno how hard it would
be though =\ not a programmer so i
have no idea how this stuff works so i
just try to ask possible things, considering
they are letting us play an amazing game
in it's alpha.

Or maybe they could make it so that you
can't stand on the tiles of the gate but only
go 1 direction? Man.. everything i can
think of has a downside xD

How about the solution "It can't be closed if the bbox is blocked"? Or am I too fond of simple solutions that work?

That works just as well as "if a gate is closed on you you are shunted out"

the latter however would also help with people getting stuck in one another on mine/house entry/exit

Well, you can't do that, that's too
simple!! i expect to be able to write
a 3 page essay on how the doors
work and that's way too simple >.<

And what about what Kaka said? if
someone stands in your door will
they be able to keep it open? rape
and pillage galore but more realistic?
or would you guys find a way around
the marry men destroying our yards?
this issue really only concerns me
because if this were to go through
then i would be afraid to open my front
door... though that would be kinda cool
if you were one of the marry men aye?

P.S.
"When concerning gates it's well known
that if an object of any shape size or
color is in the way of a large wooden
door then the simple outcome is the door
being forced to remain in it's more previous
open position as opposed to the commonly
preffered closed position."
-How ya like my essay so far? ;D

Ooh, it just occurred to me that could be a terrible solution.

Step 1: create noob alt
step 2: hide next to entrance
step 3: when gate is open, run into it
step 4: wait to die
step 5: gate blocked open until body decays to skelleton

plus many other griefing variants.

1) What, exactly, do you hope to accomplish using this "scheme" that wouldn't be much easier to do by just bashing the wall? Or, for that matter, just standing there with your doped up main fighter char? This would not be my battering ram of choice, and I have assaulted walled compounds with intent to kill.
2) Bodies should be carryables.
