Randomly logging off

Postby Mikkel » Thu Oct 22, 2009 3:45 pm

When I successfully start the game and walk around, trying to do some stuff, I nearly always get thrown back into the splash screen. It happens every 5 minutes or so, or even less. It seems to have no discernible cause. When/If I try to get in again, it says "Already logged in" for a minute or two. after that I am free to get in and get logged off once again. Quite annoying.

Sounds like a shitty connection. Are you by chance hijacking someone's internet or using DSL?

Not at all. Well, not entirely true. It's good, but very unstable at times. My brother's been getting "connection interrupted" in Uncharted 2, so I guess that's it. Must be the cold, since it's been good the rest of the year.

Not likely a temperature related thing unless you live in remote regions of the very far north and have primitive infrastructure. You should contact your ISP. If you're getting shitty service, you shouldn't be paying for it.

I live in Norway, so I suppose i'm far north. About the shitty infrastructure; I think the net cables got torn slightly loose at some point during a blizzard. I'm not really sure. And yes, I know. We aren't paying if it's worse than this.

Eh, cold weather can be a problem if you have cable. The boxes that are attached to the powerlines have parts in them that can crack if they get to cold. It sucks, because the only thing the company can do is replace them and hope they don't break again. For 2 weeks I had to go without internet, and it's sad because my mom works for the company....

THat would explain a failed connection. As I said before, the symptoms he described are not indicative of a temperature related malfunction.

It might not be the weather, but that's what I think now. I guess it doesn't really fit here anymore.

Actually, it would be good with a "bad internet failsafe" thing, where the game doesn't instantly log you off, but waits for ten seconds and logs you on if there's a connection available.
