Exact same thing. I mine with campfires, but I build them with a torch.

It depends on the phase of the moon. Obviously, on full moons it is really bright, and on a new moon it is as dark as the inside of a mine.

my hardware settings are at 100 bright 100 contrast but my nvidia settings are at 70 bright 100 vibrance 80 contrast 90 gamma

contrast can make things very dark even when brightness is maxed. play around with the software settings more

I've heard some nights are darker than others, however I haven't done any serious testing to make sure.

I've definitely seen vast differences between different monitors on how much the darkness impacts. I watched two friends playing next to each other and one was close to blind while the other could see things clearly.

well it works fine on my 5 year old mac G5 power pc but completely black on both my xp machine and my windows7 machine. i've messed around with brightness, contrast, and gamma settings with no effect. i'm standing next to a hearthfire so there should be some light.

i never need a torch, only in mines. at night i can always see. sunno why havent done anything. in a mine i need at least a torch.
