Yeah the running to the edge and stopping is not the bug, its that if you remained aimed at the target when combat ends, shotting it and killing it will result in full LP

How is it a bug that you're still aiming at the target? You don't need to be in combat to aim at stuff.

Because in any other normal situation when the animal ends combat through fleeing you don't get all the LP? It might be intended but I've always viewed it (and abused it) like a bug.
