Its not a normal decay, you wont see it turning red, one day the cubby will magically disappear, when I was a noob I was starting my entire silk game outside with cubbys, everything was going good until one day I logged in and silk moths were everywhere, not a good scene.

Cupboards have 1 hit point, so they blow up on the first decay tick. Even a blue-eyed nub with negative strength (from belief sliders, ie str less than 10) can destroy it in one hit.

This isn't true Bro get ur facts right. I made an alt in Vassteel's outpost and started destroying cupboards with it (10 strength).
When I destroyed it took me 3 ticks to destroy it. So I found and sniffed some snuff, then it took me 2 hits.
My point is, decay hits are definitely NOT what you think. When you punch a cupboard or a palisade it ain't a decay hit.
Decay hits are the natural decomposal of objects liek cupboards unclaimed palisades etc. When a decay hits a cupboard, it crashes down. But not when a person does it.

Decay hits do a hell of a lot more than "1 hit point". Nobody has truly understood the decay mechanic due to its random nature.

And cupboards used to be listed as 1 hp. Sorry I'm not staying 100% up to date on everything. I'm not going to go chasing down the wiki link for everything.

Np, sorry. But, better back posts up with some practise. It's not hard to try to destroy a cupboard with a Q10 alt for science.
