I was getting that same error "Weird version number on on gfx/hud/equip/male/kaka (1 > 0)" and it seems there's a quick and dirty workaround if you just comment out these lines in Resource.java

That probably won't be much help to people who aren't able to easily build their own copy of the client unfortunately. Maybe I'll upload a patched copy of Ender if it isn't fixed soon...

That is not a solution imo. One day you will get corrupted textures somewhere, thus you may see something awful. Although it's a way to fix it, yes. But i'll wait for devs to show up.
