I understand the need to get rid of the boat hunting, but the way it is now is just crazy. I can handle up to Level 5 right now, and I'm walking around mapping a grid with level 4-7 animals. The ones I can kill run away, the ones I can't kill gank me every 5 minutes. So I'm basically getting mauled with no meat in return.

Maybe make them run if they can't reach the player (ala boat hunting or player traps) but once engaged in melee where they can attack, fight to the death. I don't know. Anything is better than chasing these things halfway across a grid hoping they get stuck on a tree.

we are talking about critters with full health running from melee after a first hit with trivial damage here. something that shouldn't happen under any circumstances.

yeah i totally agree. bears are so fast when running the only way you catch them is if they get stuck on water or something else or a deer heals it.
on forest tiles you cant run at full speed so its VERY difficult to catch them.

At the least can we make animals friendly until attacked? Seems silly that I'm being attacked by animals only to have them turn tail and run away at full pelt the minute I hit them in return. If they attack me, I assume it's because I'm invading their home and they see me as a life and death threat. Not just because they want to say 'hi'.

If we're supposed to be using bear traps, there should be a "bear trap item" that requires metal to make it and we should be using that.

1 - That would make it a lot easier for noobs to traverse the entire map, wheras at the moment mordor is a pressure forcing them towards the center

2 - Once you de-aggro a fleeing animal they will eventually stop running, They only start running again once they make their "do I attack" check. If they didn't attack you people would be able to chase them down... That's probably a good thing
