hrmm, this is just shit now.
I hit a bear twice and it ran away, i found it again TWICE after its icon disappeared and everything, so i get near to it before i can even attack or click on the sting button the bear is running again.

this is bullshit.

Take it back to how it used to be before last weeks changes or atleast find some kind of middle ground. at this moment its just ridiculous, ive been going around testing how many hits it takes for stuff to run away. foxes take 1 hit and they will run GUARENTEED. boar are pretty much the same, bar you might get a second hit in. Deer are the one that seem to never run which is odd tbh. bears are just fat brown pussies who run after 2-3hits even though there is about 2-3 hits worth hp left in them.

hunting is so boring now, i cant actually kill more than 5-6 things in an hour long hunting trip because of everything running for miles.

No chance, loftar recently joined PETA.

In the future, hunting will be replaced by "animal cuddling" skill.

I am not sure about this whole thing. Seems to me this has some upsidses as well. Yesterday someone explained to me on irc how he is hunting bears now. They got two people on a boat and others waiting in the forest. So first they shoot the bear from boat, meanwhile the others encircle the animal and finish it off.
This seems to be both realistic and a good game mechanic as well, since this is how mankind used to hunt bigger animals back in the days. In groups.

There are some downsides to this as well, but those have been mentioned extensively before. I am now using the new bear traps to get those bastards, others get them stuck at rivers and lock them in with a boat...and 3 people in total are able to just two hit the bears straight up into bear heaven

What I've been doing is punching them (it's lv 10) up to 10 combat intensity and some initiative. Then I SoS them. Supposedly the lv 10 intensity should allow for two SoS's before they run. At least it used to for me, but now one is enough to kill them. I have about a 95% success rate.

Admittedly this requires you can stand toe to toe with them for awhile and then kill them with one or two SoS's. It seems like you might need 200 melee maybe?
I once dreamt of crafting beautiful thane's rings... then I discovered Big Bear Bangers. Now I smash beautiful things.

You don't lock yourself in, but the bear. Only requires 6 branches instead of 4. Once you have done it a few times it is almost as fast as before.

Because their pathfinding was (is?) broken, they would just stand before you when you locked yourself in a trap made of 4 branches and not run away. So this was easier than actually trapping the bear.

I find 3 branches in an L then break bear's
pathfinding while he's in the L and placing
the last branch is a guaranteed kill.
