Come on man, you really think sprites are meant to be literal instead of abstract and exaggerated due to their size? That hearthlings live in a world of stunted trees?

that was rhetorical, i already knew you were slow in the head

what about hearthlings being completely unable to climb over small walls and cliffs? is that acceptable, since you are taking the graphics literally?

Stealth, and agility should play a major role in scaling walls with grappling hooks.

All hearthlings should be able to climb cliffs, but the time it takes should be dependant on their agility and perception.

I agree that there is not way to abstract being unable to scale all cliffs. Furthermore I really think Caradon was being as facetious as you were being rhetorical. Not abstracting in a 2d is just retarded.

/me gets nostalgic for his snes RPGs

Of course, you hav eto factor in that abstraction is open to interpretation at times and since this is alpha, also open to debate about what SHOULD be.

Yerp derp.

Anyway, Chrono Trigger, Live a Live, Earthbound, Terranigma, Secret of Evermore, Secret of Mana series, and of course, Brain Lord. Though of all of them, except maybe Chrono Trigger, Terranigma had the better story.

edit- also, Lufia 1 and 2, as well as Tecmo's secret of the stars. Can't forget those gems.

CT & FFIII had best the stories ever. Arguably SoM & SoE but I personally never got into those two.

Is final fantasy 6 really even worth mentioning? It's an amazing RPG for the SNES, but to be honest it's a completely different classification altogether. No snes rpg can stand up against the final fantasy series :o So where's the competition.

Final Fantasy ascends beyond console considerations. If for no other reason than to allow the other games to actually shine, and not be overshadowed by a monolithic structure.

Correction no RPG can ever stand up to the Pre-6 series. Unless you subscribe to the fanonicization that nothign post 6 ever exist. WHich I will abide.

Yea, I dont get why people like sephiroth at all, He's a whiny bitch who ultimately accomplishes nothing, Kefka on the otherhand.. Well, He becomes a demi-god and destroys half the world.
