Making iron mugs does not require heat or an anvil- something rather reminding me of a dwarf's ability to use pure willpower to make stone mugs without tools.
Perhaps this was unintentional.

same problem with making keys. Simply press a unfired mold onto a piece of wrough and voila, a key.
