Villages claiming goods

Postby anaemic » Wed Jul 22, 2009 12:37 pm

I spend a fair amount of time wondering around the wilds with a cart with a meat grinder in it, and some containers to fill with sausages as I hunt.

But twice in two days now, I've stumbled into the edge of a village claim - which aren't marked on screen, even with visible claims toggled on - Tried to move off, and been told my cart is now possession of 'caketown' (in this instance).
Its a real pain in the ass, and I had intentionally not bought theft because I had no intention of stealing anything, but now i'm left with the choice of losing everything or levelling up to buy a skill I don't want, to leave a theft scent just to take my own goods away.

thats odd, i can see all the claims around caketown when i turn "village claims" on.. maybe you only had personal claims on, rather then village claims?

Hmmm. Far from optimal. I don't think Caketown minds if you steal it back, though. ;)

the 2 button above the minimap.
The white flag that looks like a bunny head on a stick, makes personal claims visible.
The red flag that looks like a village banner, makes village claims [from idols, banners, statues] visible.

Does Diatre still live in the area of Caketown? Either she or citizens of Caketown decided to take my beachside cabana area and wreck it thoroughly.

To my knowledge no one at caketown has trashed anyones cabin. Nor are we really near any beach..?
However, there are a lot of little villages that have sprung up a lot closer to the lake then we are, maybe they, or really anyone else in the entire world, vandalized you.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Caketown the settlement located at one of the clay pits north of the great lake? I had a small settlement to the southeast, located on that juncture between the sand, forest, and water. There was a road to it. I logged in one my character that lived there yesterday, after a brief absence, to find the road had been turned into grass and plowed ground, all my containers, including the inside ones, gone & a cellar placed in the house that I know I didn't build. The only person who knew about it was Diatre, and I can't imagine a lone thief/griefer going through all that effort, let alone finding it.
