Can't use a loom

I have the First Aid skill and I'm trying to use a loom to make some gauze, but it doesn't seem to be working. Right-clicking on the loom doesn't auto-move me to it like it should, nor will it "activate" the loom if I do it while standing next to it. Whenever I try to make the gauze, it just tells me that I need a loom. My friend used it right in front of me, and I've tried it both inside and outside of my territory. I don't know where to find another loom to try, so I don't know if the problem is with me, or with the loom, or what.

Back before bandages required looms, I found myself with the first aid skill, but unable to treat myself. It turned out some other skill was also required. I figured requirements had changed, because according to the then-present skill tree, I could not possibly have first aid, lacking a prerequisite - but actually did have it. Maybe it was some other bug, and that bug is still present?

Sorry, I should have been more specific. When I said that I tried it both within my territory and without, I meant that I carried it around and tried it in different spots. It's normally tucked into a corner, so moving it out into the open was one of the first things we tried.

Edit: I've got it figured out. Turns out I actually need the Cloth Making skill to be able to use the loom. It still seems like a bug, though, that I should have the option of making gauze (and the subsequent error message about needing a loom) if I'm not even capable of using a loom at that point.The error message should perhaps reflect this fact.

This is almost certainly a hang over from when you didn't need a loom to make gauze... hence no need to have the cloth making skill to be able to use the loom to make the gauze.
