H&H is messing with my router

Postby Dragonash » Wed Aug 12, 2009 10:53 pm

Wierd bug.
Occasionally when I go down into my mine I lose internet connection because my router stops working.
I know its this game because it happens only when i enter a mine. The game freezes I lose internet (can't access web pages also effects my wifes computer on the same network) and I have to reset my router which fixes the problem.
Its like the game will occasionally send some sort of massive packet burst that crashes my router.
Its not everytime but I happens enough to be annoying.
It only happens when I enter my mine. It has been happening for 2 weeks now.
Has anyone else experienced this?

Yes. It's not just when entering a mine, it can happen on any transition for me; I know how you feel. However it does reconnect after a few moments.

Interesting. In all honesty, I'd say that you should get a new router, though -- no matter what I send at it, it shouldn't crash unless it's broken.

That said, however, there are more reasons for me to want to improve that part of the protocol. It's just pending other priorities.

I get this from time to time when logging in, and it'll happen a few times in a row.

Linxsys WRT54G router, if that makes a difference.

I can just say, that I'm getting a bunch of disconnects, by just walking through the "Map" what are like... 10inches? Anyway, the funny thing is that I'm safe in the mine :D ...but only there. Spending hours in that hole...at least my friend is throwing some food down and some animals to play with.
My network is pretty stable on other games, but this one seems to fuck it up

Actually, after finally having profiled the server, it turned out that this was a lot more important than I first thought, so it might be fixed rather soon.

Wow, I was getting a similar problem with the exact same router. I figured it was a hardware problem and replaced it with a newer one, and the issue vanished.
Surprise.

So there, the change has been implemented. Please try and see if it makes it better for you.
