Persistent Foxes

Is it intended that once a fox knocks someone out, they should hang around until the player character recover consciousness, then reinitiate combat? It appears to be a hopeless situation for the victim, without outside rescue, since they don't recover enough to have a chance of getting away. (Being out of stamina prevents running, fighting back, etc.) Fortunately it's slow, so there's a good chance of rescue.

Whether or not it's intended, it's at best an unannounced change; I believe that this didn't happen in the old days when level III foxes were hazardous to me, pre-path-finding.

Indeed, there seems to be a bug somewhere in the aggressor AI that makes them stop completely when they lose their targets. I just haven't gotten around to fix it yet.

They aren't stopping though - they just keep on attacking every time the victim recovers consciousness. Or is the problem that they forget the target, and therefore acquire it again?

You can always just logout when KO'd, then teleport back to your hearthfire.
You see a masterful engraving by Blaze. On it is Blaze, bears, boars, and foxes. Blaze is striking down the bears. The boars are screaming. The foxes are in a fetal position. The image relates to the return of Blaze in the late winter of 2009.

Actually if you're quick enough, and still have a decent amount of stamina left, you can get away at running or sprinting speed, I managed to escape a few bears and foxes that way.

But you have to move as soon as you're able to, otherwise its just a chase again.
