Curious, I turned on swimming, and attempted to pick up the log...
I instantly drowned and lost all my equipment, stats and skills.
Leather Cloak, gloves, pants, bunny slippers, straw hat, scythe, backpack, 25 archery, Seedbag and two flasks somewhat literally down the drain.
Is this a bug or something?
'Cause I think it's pretty screwed up if you're allowing people to do that to themselves. An error message would be more logical (and fair!) than having your character irreversibly try to stand up on the bottom of the ocean and instantly die.
I'm seriously disappointed by this. Third time I've died now. Once by Ant (which in somebody's brilliant guide I was told could not murder me) then again by a Boar (my fault, I'll accept that) then third by floating log. BAH!
So close to ragequit but I'd let down my whole village....
I thought in the least I'd log on and voice my complaint.
Fuck you HnH.
1) Whenever you're in a boat in the deep part of the water (darker blue compared to the light blue on riverbank), and you press ctrl+click, you get a message tell you that you need swimming on to do that. Why? because you're trying to ctrl+click like you would to get out of your boat; in the middle of the river.
So what you did was: See the log, try to pick it up using ctrl+click ( no idea why... ), then assume you need swimming for some reason, turn it on and get out of your boat to drown yourself. If instead you had simply used your hotkey for lifting objects, you could have lifted it over your head without ever stepping out of your boat.
In other words: you didn't know what you were doing, and you paid for it. Trust me when I say, early on this will happen a lot in both large and small ways. By the sound of things, you weren't terribly far along. You'll be way more frustrated when you've spent 5+ weeks alive, slowly grinded out some millions of LP, and die to something silly.
2) Ants can't kill you if you fight them 1v1, if you try to raid their ant hill however, they will gang up on you and continue to attack you after you're down. In 1v1, the ant will immediately desist after you've been knocked down; I've tried it a ton of times. Again, you misunderstood something, and you paid for it. Again, get used to it or you're going to have a horrible existence for a long time.
3) TL;DR: Always be cautious, exploring new things is always more dangerous than it seems. If you can't handle minor setbacks (yes, they were, in relation to the entirety of the game and how much worse it could have been), consider trying something else.
PS: Not trying to crap on your thread, but this is how I see it. Better luck next time.
