The Mysterious Case of the Vanishing Character

I logged in only to find my character gone. I assumed he had died or something, but when I went to create a new character his tombstone wasn't there. In fact, none of the other tombstones were there either. So what happened? I updated Java earlier, so could that have caused it?

I'm seconding this one. I've got the same symptoms here except I haven't updated Java. My dude is gone and no runestone either.

EDIT: I'll learn to read next time.
