Dead character's claim still exists

So, I march my new character back to where I'd stashed all my stuff, only to descover that the claim is still intact. Is this a bug with death by drowning?

thats not a bug, you can inherit the claims of old characters

I inherited nothing, I made this character before Brosephine died.

yeah you can inherit his stuff with a new guy which is pretty cool because claims circumvent the LP loss to death from change

you can kin your own alt if you make him on a separate account

you should make 1 character per account, that way you can use them as porters and stuff
