Download won't complete/game won't launch

Whenever I try to play this game, the download bar quickly gets to about 3/4 of the way across (sometimes a little further) and then slows to an absolute crawl. When it finally completes about 15 minutes later, I get an error saying "Unable to launch the application." Things I have tried:

Clearing the Java cache
Making sure I'm running the latest version of Java
Making sure Java is installed properly (I can play Minecraft no problem)
Trying both the web launcher and the downloadable version linked from the PAQ page
Using an alternative client (Ender's client, nothing even happens when I try to run it)

If it is relevant, I am using Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit edition.

I would really like to try this game out, so any help is appreciated. Thanks.

First, are you using a 32- or 64-bit Java installation? Next... did you download the right version of Enders?

As far as the d/l not completing from HnH, it's really hard to say what the issue is. I'd say the file stream is getting corrupted at some point. It could be your system, it could the internet.

Last, copy and paste error logs. Nobody can really help you if you don't. There's just too much to guess at. Screenshots might be helpful, too.
