Boughs used as branches?

I just crafted a cone cow. But instead of losing four branches and a cone, it seems I lost four BOUGHS and a cone! :o What happened?

Boughs sometimes can be used as branches, which means you can make fires, cone cows and other stuff out of boughs.

Boughs can ALWAYS be used same way as branches when it comes to crafting or building. You just cannot use them as fuel.
