boar attack or not?

Today i was trying to tame for my first time. I chose a boar.
All went smoothly, i had 60 taming points when suddenly i get hit while standing in shallow water. Offcourse i thought it was the boar but when i took a look at the combat bars i noticed he had full attack bar and i had full defence :/
so i carried on and got hit again, this time i'm ko. His atk ìs still at max and my defence also.
He hits me again, still the same. He kills me...

Not really fair way to die but i'm just gonna carry on.
Has anyone else had the same problem ever?

He didn't mention any 'lines' appearing, and if someone sniped him, he'd see a piece of stone if it were a sling, and he'd be dead in one shot if it were a bow user.

Are you sure that the OP is far enough away from the boar? Sometimes the hit range of the animal's attack can reach you if you don't make sure you are 2 tiles away. Then again, the boar not spending any of it's attack gauge is a little strange if that were true.

Nope, the boar was the only in combat with me.

It was probably the boar, but i don't get why the bars were staying max :/

Screenshots would have been nice. Hard to confirm what the problem is without them.

Other than that, server lag is the only thing I can think of.

Boar was using battle cry

The Only things I can think of is, as has been said, server lag, or sniper

I said it was the only thing I could think of. One other thought crosses my mind now: you weren't far enough back from the shore. Position is huge and boars have a small reach into a river/lake.

Yeah, remembering that screenshot is a habit that's developed. I still forget it too often.

He most likely hit me but the attack and defence bars bother me.
