Cursor issues

I'm incredibly new to this game, and It seems that I have an issue with clicking on buttons/objects. I'm not able to click on things exactly, I have to click below them for the clicking to register. The only way I've found to realign the buttons is to reduce my screen resolution to 800x600 and then run the game in full screen mode.

I've tried the default client and Ender's.

Is there a better fix for this? It's very aggravating to have to keep changing my screen resolutions.

Apparently screenshots don't show where the cursor is, but I did make a picture to better describe what's happening.

what OS and what mouse ? Can you change DPI?

I'm using the trackpad on my Toshiba Satellite with Windows Vista. I can change the DPI, I tried changing it and it didn't seem to do anything after a restart.

Can you plug a mouse to it and try if it occurs too?
