Disconnected, and now this. D:

I'm a newbie and didn't quite know about the disconnection-related risks when travelling, so I was blindsided by this after trying to find a path to my friend for around 5 hours.

I'm not sure if this is the "Can't log in where you logged out?" situation outlined in the sticky. I -can- click the Login where you last logged out button, but when I do, I get this.

On the Vanilla Client, I get this.

Am I boned and have to start over at my HF, or do I have a chance at fixing this somehow?

It's loading unless there's something wrong with your client. How long have you waited and how fast is your internet?

In excess of 15 minutes.

And I have a 3MBit line.

Edit: I'm pretty sure I'm on a village claim there and have criminal acts turned off.

Looks like client issues.

Try deleting the characters belt config file.

This sometimes works, but it is weird that the regular client isn't working.

I already deleted the belt config. That's why my slots are empty in the screenshot.

I'll try killing all config files, sec.

Edit: No change even with a freshly unzipped client

This happened to me some days ago, I tried restarting the client several times to no avail, then I tried to force my character to walk away from the spot where I logged out before the half-loaded black screen froze my client, it worked and everything loaded perfectly fine.
Hope this works for you.

Hm. I'd like to try that, but after relogging several more times in an attempt to do something, the "Where you logged out" button stopped working for me in both clients.

I guess something about my current location is invalid after all?

For some further experimentation, I made an alt and hearth-secreted directly to the friend I wanted to reach by boat, I got knocked back to the login screen (exactly what happened when I was passing by the town in the screenshot above on my first char) as soon as I entered the stairs, and now that alt is stuck the exact same way, standing on the alt's hearthfire, black ground, unable to move.

Edit: Now it lets me login again, but I'm still stuck. Just what is going on here. >:

Edit 2: Ended up going back to hearth fire, problem fixed for now, but almost 5 supernodes of travel down the drain. >:

Just happened to me again. Got within about ~20 tiles of a village claim, never stepped closer, got dced, can't load back in.

Completely different village this time, too.

This is getting hugely frustrating. I now wasted more than eight hours trying to travel to places.

I could accept being killed by a random person I run into, but disconnects and then ending up back where you started? Makes me want to throw my mouse at the wall. >:

Edit: Note that I am using Java 7 x64, if that helps.
